A Little More About Me

This is very new territory for me… I am not much of a writer and there will be lots of mistakes, but I want to share what I see from this side of the camera during sessions, weddings, milestones and more. These posts will be short and I may not have a whole lot to say, but I’ll get there.

So, like I said before, I am a second grade teacher and it is my first year teaching. Let’s just say it’s tough and rewarding all in one. I’m sure you’ve heard that before, huh? One thing that teachers can do to help improve their lessons is to take jot notes of what worked and what didn’t, so my blog posts will be my “jot notes” for photography. I strive to see more, be as creative as possible, make others feel comfortable and so much more. I want to look deeper in the things that I see and continue to grow. So, here I come blogging!

I now live in Madison, Alabama and still have so much to see in this city. I have a lot of clients in Florence that I graciously drive back and forth for. I am always down for travel by the way (eloping? I’ll join!). Anyway, I have a big family that still lives in Florence, like really big… seven brothers and a sister. Growing up in a family that big teaches you so much. I learned to be independent, work with others, and love a whole lot. Before I got married I knew I would be leaving Florence and making Huntsville my home where my husbands family lives. My husband and I put an offer on a house before seeing it in person (because homes in this city don’t stay on the market long). That’s another story for a different time, but we were engaged at the time and we were getting married in just a few months. So, fast forward to the wedding…

Again, I got married in April 2019. I got married at The Givens House at Glenn Hill in Town Creek and y’all it was beyond perfect. I am one for simple and quaint and let me tell you Bernice Givens the owner of this gorgeous venue can make all dreams come true. So I had no idea where I wanted to get married and also didn’t have a massive budget (believe me now, I know the dent it can put in a bank account for a wedding!!). My mom called me one Sunday and a lady from church had told her about this venue. So, I give Ms. Bernice a call and sure enough she had a cancellation that day. Well, Town Creek here I come. My expectations were low, as I had not seen any venues to this point and still was unsure of the vibe I wanted for my wedding. I mean hello, big decision here, this only happens once… Long story short, I fell in love with the venue and Bernice and signed that day for April 6, 2019. She had limited availability (I know why now) and I took what I could get! Anyway, I could go on and on and on about all the things that were perfect about my day, but I say all this to say I am aware of the stress weddings can have on brides and I know that having a photographer to capture every detail is so important (that could be me at your wedding) and also shout out to Always Abbey Photography for capturing my wedding so beautifully. I get so much joy capturing weddings now (I did before too it was just different) and I feel the emotions so much more since feeling all these emotions for myself at my wedding.

Whew, that was a lot about weddings, but I do not stop there! I thoroughly enjoy so much more than just weddings. I have captured couples, families, in home, mommy and me, engagements, portraits, fresh 48, events and more. Each session I capture has a special meaning and I get to freeze these moments so they last forever and that is something that is powerful. Reliving a moment because you decided to have someone snap a few pictures is the best idea I can think of in a world that moves so rapidly.

So, I am here and I am ready.
